Group Work

It’s better when we come together.

We humans are highly social animals.

Our nervous systems go into stress response when we feel alone and unsupported.

Yet, as a society, we are lonelier than ever before.

You may feel alone in the challenge you are facing.

You may think you’re the only one feeling this way. But you would be surprised to know that many others are experiencing similar challenges.

The support found in the group setting can be validating and transformational.

Being in a safe, supportive space with others can buffer the effects of increased social and emotional isolation, increase our sense of connection and meaning, and help us get to know ourselves better.

And it can give us the energy and creativity needed to deal with the challenges we are facing.

Why this work is important:

The nervous system quietly shapes almost everything we experience—our thoughts, emotions, movements, and even the automatic rhythms of breathing and heartbeat. Yet most of us never learn how it works in a way that helps us care for our own mental health and well-being. Many therapists weren’t clearly taught this either, even in graduate school.

In this group, you’ll learn accessible, science-informed basics about the nervous system and how it responds to stress, safety, and connection. We’ll explore how your system helps you read your environment, form bonds with caregivers, and protect you when you feel overwhelmed—and how these same patterns can sometimes keep you stuck.

Alongside this theory, we’ll practice embodied mindfulness together. You’ll be invited to notice sensations, emotions, and impulses in the body with gentleness and curiosity, and you’ll have the opportunity to create a personal mindfulness practice that feels realistic and supportive for your life.

This group is open to anyone who wants to live more mindfully, feel more confident meeting life’s challenges, and grow their capacity for ease and joy. You’ll learn:

  • Practical, trauma-sensitive tools for regulating your nervous system

  • Mindfulness skills you can use in everyday situations

  • Ways to adapt these practices to your own needs and preferences

We’ll meet for six weeks, 90 minutes each session. Because the work builds from week to week, a commitment to the full six-week series is requested.

1289448838Group Therapy for Parents and Caregivers

Parenting is one of the hardest and most important jobs on the planet, yet no school or university teaches us how to parent our children.

Sure, there are books and classes with general information.

Each child is different, and each parent comes with their own unprocessed trauma and attachment patterns that interfere with effective parenting.

So, we wing it the best we can. And for most of us, it happens in isolation.

What happened to “It takes a village to raise a child?”

The village is gone, and we are left with nuclear-family-style living: one or two parents/caregivers having to be almost everything and everyone to their children.

A sense of shame often comes with trying to be the perfect parent.

It often seems like other parents are doing a fine job, and you are the only one failing your children.

In group, you get to be with others going through similar experiences, share our challenges and resources, and be the “village” to each other.

Are you ready?

If you want to connect with others in a safe, supportive space, you’ve come to the right place.

Group is offered weekly for six sessions. Each session is 90 minutes long. Commitment is required for the entire six sessions.

Let’s discuss your goals and see if group work is right for you.
